Table de Flora did not begin with a business plan. It began at home, around our own family table.

When our family moved to Uganda, we found ourselves missing something very simple: dairy that tasted fresh and natural.

So we started making yoghurt at home for our family.

At first, that was all it was. We were simply trying to make something we would be genuinely happy to give our own children. But one batch became another. Curiosity turned into passion, and yoghurt slowly became a craft.

We began learning about fermentation, dairy chemistry and yoghurt cultures from around the world. We experimented with temperatures, textures, flavours and methods, always asking ourselves the same question:

How can we make the next batch better than the last?

There was still no grand plan. We simply kept making something we were proud to serve at home. But that yoghurt eventually became Yoghurt Express. And that way of thinking soon went beyond yoghurt.

When we started making fruit yoghurt, we faced another problem. We could not find a jam that met the standard we wanted. The options were often high in sugar, contained preservatives and had surprisingly little actual fruit - yet Uganda was producing wonderful fruit all around us.

So, once again, we decided to make our own. That way, we could control exactly what went into it. Without realizing it at the time, this became the philosophy behind everything that followed:

If we could not find something made the way we believed it should be made, we would try to make it ourselves.

As Yoghurt Express grew, that mindset never changed. We searched for better cultures. We invested in better equipment. We changed processes when we discovered a better way. We tested, tasted, learned and sometimes started all over again simply because we were not satisfied with the result.

The question was never: “Is this good enough to sell?”

It was always: “Would we be happy giving this to our own family?”

In the beginning, we shared our yoghurt with friends and neighbours, always for free. They asked for more. Then they told their friends. Along the way, we were incredibly fortunate to have a community that became our sounding board. We shared new products, tested endless variations and actively asked for honest feedback. Their encouragement gave us the confidence to take the next step. So we created a small WhatsApp group and began taking our first orders.
One family became ten. Ten became hundreds.Restaurants began calling. Hotels heard about us. And Yoghurt Express grew almost entirely through one person recommending us to another. That still means a great deal to us.

Somewhere along the way, we also realized that the spirit behind Yoghurt Express did not have to stop with yoghurt - or even with dairy. If we could bring that same curiosity, care and refusal to compromise to yoghurt, why not bring it to other foods we would be proud to serve at our own family table?

Foods made to be enjoyed, shared and brought together around a table.
That is how Table de Flora truly began.

The name itself is deeply personal to us. Flora is our daughter’s name, and naming the company after her felt natural because everything had started with our family in the first place.
Today, Table de Flora is home to a growing family of brands, each dedicated to its own craft.

Yoghurt Express began with dairy.

Bread Express brings the same philosophy to baking.

Jam Express grew from our desire to make better fruit jams with ingredients we could believe in.

Spice Express celebrates exceptional ingredients from Uganda.

And as we continue to explore new ideas, more will follow.

Have an idea? Share it with us. We may just make it.

The products may be different, but the thinking behind them remains the same.

We still study.
We still test.
We still taste.
We still question things.

And we are still a little obsessed with finding a way to make tomorrow’s batch better than today’s.
